Rawi Hage, recent winner of the IMPAC Dublin Award, was born in Beirut, Lebanon, and lived through nine years of the Lebanese civil war, before emigrating to Canada in 1992. Vincent Lam is a Chinese-Canadian short story writer whose work has a strong moral dimension.
